This is the first “recent additions” exhibit that we’ve done in about three years. Come take a look at some of the new inhabitants of the Rare Book Room. We’ve got books that expand our already strong collection of books used by working lawyers; printings of the Magna Carta and early English statutes from 1556 and 1576; early printings of the U.S. and state constitutions; and some books and manuscripts that provide glimpses into legal issues surrounding gender, race, and class.
Many of these new items have already been on view for students during class visits or special Rare Book Room events. And some of our law student workers have been hard at work on some deep dives into these books on our BC Law Library’s Legal Eagle Blog, with more on the way. If you have ideas about how to integrate these or other Rare Book Room materials into your courses, please reach out!
The exhibit was curated by Laurel Davis. It will remain on view into September 2025. The Rare Book Room is open on weekdays from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The exhibit catalog is available to download.
